Vee Jitsu
Vee Jitsu is the foundation of the art. Use of techniques such as groin strikes, biting, and eyeball gouging are readily employed during self-defense situations. In order to additionally prepare for the realities of street confrontations, students of Burke’s Martial Arts’ Vee-Arnis-Jitsu program are drilled rigorously in class and paired with persons of different shapes and sizes.
Arnis
The National Martial Art and Sport of the Philippines, Arnis teaches powerful empty-hand and weapons techniques. The use of a stick is taught as a tool for learning. Not always used as a weapon itself, the stick is a tool that can be substituted by anything to be used as a weapon and have the ability to flow.
The art of knife-fighting is another major part of Modern Arnis; with an emphasis on teaching rapid continuous repetition of striking drills, students develop speed and mobility.
Muay Thai
The third part of Vee-Arnis-Jitsu is made up of Muay Thai boxing concepts and stamina training. Burke’s Martial Arts’ dedicated staff teaches each student to maximize their fighting abilities by utilizing elbows, knees, and shins as well as traditional foot and hand strikes.
Our Muay Thai curriculum includes intensive bag work and kicking drills, as well as a rigorous calisthenics program in order to help students maintain their health and fitness.
1-2-3 HIT
In this program, students train full power with resistance in pairs. Full body armor suits are worn allowing for functional techniques performed at full strength. The 1-2-3 HIT program students use every type of empty-handed techniques as well as gun and knife techniques to round out the program. This is front line self-defense training at its best.
Grappling
Vee-Arnis-Jitsu leaves out no element of self-defense. Our grappling program is geared towards self-defense so that each students knows how to defend himself or herself…not only when they are standing, but if the fight goes to the ground as well.
Students are taught a variety of defenses from the mount, half-mount and turtle positions. Ground controls, chokes, arm bars, knee and leg bars and slipping moves combined with effective strikes gives students a well-rounded program of self-defense.
Knife Training
The Knife Training phase of Vee-Arnis-Jitsu is unique. While the goal of all of these programs is self-defense, this program will also enhance your timing, reflexes, hand-to-hand eye coordination and body movement. With this program, students are taught angles of attack, striking patterns, the do’s and don’ts of holding a knife, various blocking, redirecting, and faking and setup concepts.
